Where is it???
By Car: The best way of getting to the Boleyn Ground is via the tube. It is advised that you park on the outskirts of London (ie Upminster) and catch the tube due to the parking problems in the Upton Park area. Please see notes further down.
By Rail/Tube: Upton Park (District/Hammersmith and City Lines) is the closest station to the Boleyn Ground. East Ham and Plaistow stations are advised after the game though as Upton Park is normally packed.
!WARNING! Do not be tempted to catch the tube train to West Ham station. It is deceptively far from the Boleyn Ground.
Trivia
West Ham rented Green Street House from the Roman Catholic Church since from 1912. It was known to locals as Boleyn Castle because of how it looked and because Anne Boleyn has stayed at (and possibly owned) the house. This is how the ground got it's official name, Boleyn Ground. It is more commonly know as the district in which it lies in, Upton Park.
A V-1 flying bomb wrecked the South-West corner of the ground in August, 1944. The team had to play it's home games away whilst repairs were carried out.
